This year, the Daily Reporter received over a hundred nominees for the Top Projects Awards. As the award recognizes the most notable projects in Wisconsin over the past year, forty winners were selected from a hundred for the grand prize event, including Karcher Middle School.
Scherrer Construction The nomination for the Karcher Middle School project was selected as one of the winners due to the school’s modern and energy-efficient new campus construction and the efficiency of the pre-construction services provided. The pre-construction services included the site study, cost forecasting and an effective referendum campaign. The services proved invaluable to the beautiful new middle school building. The Karcher Middle School building is of historic value as it replaces the older building that had been in use since 1924. The modern school building is owned by the Burlington Area School District and covers an impressive 145,000 square feet.
Today, the new school serves over 700 children and has numerous classrooms, after-school, special education, and elective rooms for STEM, music, orchestra, and choir. The building also houses a two-station gymnasium, exercise room, locker rooms, and community facilities such as a library, cafeteria, staff offices, and other work and storage spaces.
